Thanksgiving is just around the corner and there's no question that it's one of the best times of the year, especially because of the food! But Thanksgiving is also a time to be thankful for the things we have and often take for granted. So here are 50 things to grateful for right now:

1. Family

Because you need them more than anything.

2. Friends

The laughs; you need those.

3. Puppies

4. Cats

Even if you aren't a cat person, they're cute. No denying it.

5. The turkey you're about to shove in your face

6. Oh, and the stuffing too

7. The beach

Because nothing is more peaceful!

8. Fresh air

Better than breathing in swamp air.

9. Netflix

Because we all know it consumes 75% of your free time.

10. Donuts

11. Dunkin Donuts

Because you can't survive off Starbucks.

12. Football season

What else is there to do on Sundays?

13. Pizza

14. Traveling

Because we're actually able to get on a plane and go wherever our hearts desire.

15. Sunrises

Who knew the earth could create something so amazing?

16. Sunsets

A perfect end to any day.

17. The feeling you get after cleaning your room

Even though you know it'll be messy in 20 minutes, for the time being, it's the best feeling.

18. Vine (RIP)

The source of all of your hardest laughs.

19. Funny tweets

20. Christmas movies

21. Dog videos on Facebook

They make any day better.

22. Humans of New York on Facebook

They open your eyes and make you realize that some people have it worse than you.

23. Target

24. Chicken nuggets

...only from McDonald's.

25. Homemade meals

Nothing gets any better.

26. Concerts

There's no better feeling.

27. Old pictures

SO many memories.

28. Tacos

29. Spaghetti and meatballs

30. Baths

Because they don't require as much effort as showers do.

31. A hot shower after a long day

The most relaxing feeling.

32. Being able to sleep in your own bed

33. Warm blankets

They make any day a good day.

34. Fuzzy socks

They automatically make you feel good about yourself.

35. Hot chocolate

Like coffee without all the caffeine.

36. Feeling put together

Makes any day a better day.

37. Coffee, coffee, coffee

38. Warm tea

If you don't like coffee, this is a valid substitute.

39. Hugs

40. Kisses

PDA is OK sometimes.

41. Laughs with people you love

Arguably the best thing ever.

42. Videos of gorillas acting like humans

43. New shoes

Even when you're looking down, they keep your spirits up.

44. When gas prices go down

Finally, we don't have to use our entire minimum wage paycheck to fill up

45. Seals

46. Burritos

This is just a given.

47. Funny stories

Hindsight is 20/20.

48. Your high school yearbook

What's funnier than yearbook pictures?

49. PB&J sandwiches

50. The life you're living

Because even on bad days, we are so lucky to have what we do.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
