Southern California is quite a gem.

From the beaches to the amusement parks, it really does have its perks. However, after living in SoCal my entire life and moving away, I quickly learned that there are MANY things we Southern Californian's hear on a regular basis.

Once you move away, these become so insanely prevalent.

1. "So, do you eat a lot of avocados?"

2. "You surf right?"

3. "Have you met a famous person?"

4. "Why would you ever move away?"

5. "So, have you seen a shark?"

6. "Do you go to the beach every day?"

7. "People say 'dude' a lot there don't they?"

8. "Are their avocados really that good?"

9. "In-N-Out, you must go there ALL the time."

10. "Which beach is the prettiest?"

11. "Why is there so much sand in your car?"

12. "So you have a Disneyland annual pass?"

13. "Can you get me into Disneyland?"

14. "No really, let's go to Disneyland."

15. "So you've been to Hollywood?"

17. "How the heck do you deal with all that traffic?"

19. "You are NOT allowed to complain about the weather."

20. "Is that drought over yet?"

21. "So you take the 91 to the 57 and exit where?"

22. "You live HOW close to Disneyland?"

23. "How do you drive on these freeways?"

24. "I hear there are a lot of vegans there."

25. "So you're from 'Cali'?"

26. "Oh ya, we drive to 'Cali' all the time."

27. "Is that a tan line?"

28. "No, it is not cold."

29. "Was that an Earthquake?"

30. "Guac costs extra."

31. "So tell me again why you left SoCal?"

32. "How about Six Flags, let's go there after a day at Disneyland."

33. "WAIT, you can hear the Disneyland fireworks from your backyard?"

34. "Is the traffic REALLY that awful?"

35. "The cost of living is insane there."

36. "How close are you to LA?"

37. "Teach me how to surf."

38. "Ok, come on, we are going to Disneyland."

39. "You wear your Rainbows every day."

40. "Do you shop at whole foods?"

41. "Why do you freak out when it rains?"

42. "Why do you always say 'chill'?"

43. "Tone down your road rage."

44. "So there isn't a white Christmas where you live?"

45. "Wait, you're telling me you can surf and snowboard in the same day?"

46. "You went to Disneyland HOW many times last year?"

47. "You waited how long in that Starbucks drive-thru?"

48. "You can be at the beach in how many minutes?"

49. "Southern California really doesn't have seasons."

50. "So there is a healthy food/organic craze?"

If you are a SoCal native, you know the truth behind all these comments and questions. At the end of the day, it is always nice to have a place with amazing Mexican food and gorgeous beaches to call home. Now go sit in traffic to go surf with your In-N-Out and avocados, have no shame.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
