I find it intriguing that through social media, it is not only possible to learn information about people, but to gather a decent understanding of one's personality without ever meeting face-to-face. Youtube of course, is the largest online treasure-trove of personalities, and many of them have contributed to who I am today. Here are 5 YouTubers who have impacted my life for good, as well as lessons they taught me:

1.) thecomputernerd01

Thecomputernerd01 taught me that it's fun to be a little random, and that good friends are key. His videos were quoted dozens of times by little ten-year-old Chelsea and her friends, no doubt lending a hand in influencing my sense of humor (translation: I laugh at nearly everything). His videos are incredibly random and usually plot-less, but I've always admired how he created videos because it made he and his friends happy, rather than for popularity.

2.) BalloonShop

BalloonShop taught me that that friends, silly dance moves, and film-making make life interesting. Like thecomputernerd01, my friends and I started watching their videos back when I was gaining my own sense of humor. The channel features three college friends who would make hilarious videos together, and I watched them for hours. Being who I am today, I highly accredit my love for video-making to the inspiration I received from BalloonShop at a young age.

3.) Olan Rogers

Olan Rogers taught me that nothing is impossible, and that being genuine is important. Olan Rogers started off on BalloonShop, but when he had to move away from his friends, he started making his own videos featuring some hilarious storytelling and imaginative independent films. My Sophomore year of High School, one of my best friends and I went to a meet-and-greet of his, and it has inspired me since. His tour was completely self-funded and free because he wanted to make it possible for everyone to come and have a good time. It was incredible to see him in real life, and to find that he was just as genuine and funny in person as he was online. He chases his dreams with such enthusiasm and cares for those around him along the way; I hope to gain those qualities one day.

4.) CutiePieMarzia

CutiePieMarzia taught me that you can be a little shy and still be amazing. Marzia is a sweet Italian girl who loves cute things, horror movies, arts and crafts, and unique fashion. She is quiet, but has a heart of gold, which was important for me to see when I was around 14. After two close friends of mine moved away, I started to become more shy, and I found it harder to talk to others. I began to feel sad because I wasn't easily able to be fun and bubbly anymore, but Marzia was a wonderful example of how one can be shy, but still funny and creative. She has accomplished so much in her life without needing an in-your-face personality, and that truly inspires me.

5.) BubzBeauty/BubzVlogz

Bubz taught me that there is kindness is invaluable, and that loving yourself is important. Bubz, or Lindy, is a YouTuber who started as a popular beauty guru, now creates videos more focused on positivity, inner-beauty, and her family. Because of her genuine kindness, Bubz is the most inspirational person on this list. She is currently working to raise money to build schools in Africa, and on a smaller scale, inspires her viewers to treat others, as well as themselves, with love and respect. She shares personal videos on YouTube, including times when she goes through rough spots, and it is truly uplifting to see her pull through with faith in God and her Family. She is a strong lady with a huge heart and great sense of humor, and I hope to achieve some of her qualities.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
