5 YouTube Beauty Gurus To Follow

If you're a beginner in the makeup/beauty world, it can seem like a daunting task walking into Sephora and staring at hundreds of products. Once you choose products to buy, it's really confusing learning how to even go about applying them correctly and knowing which ones will work the best for you specifically. Well, have no fear my beauty beginners, because these YouTube beauty gurus are here to show you the best products, how to use them, and so much more. Whether it's mastering the perfect smokey eye, learning how to contour your face, getting the perfect beach curl, or just learning a proper skincare routine, these people are here with all the answers.

1. Jaclyn Hill

Jaclyn is a professional makeup artist who you also want to be your best friend. She's absolutely hilarious no matter what video she's making, and she always looks absolutely beautiful at the end of her tutorials. She also has her own products and will be releasing an entire makeup line in 2016. She gives amazing beauty advice and does goofy videos like the "no mirror makeup challenge" or lets her boyfriend to do her makeup. Just a disclaimer: she uses a lot of high-end expensive products so her looks can be hard to replicate exactly, but there are so many dupes out there it's not difficult to do similar looks. She also has videos about her favorite drug store products so you can still get affordable ideas from her channel.

2. Carli Bybel

With over three million YouTube subscribers, Carli Bybel is dominating the beauty and fashion worlds of YouTube. She not only gives amazing makeup tutorials, but she also does so many celebrity-inspired looks and even made a video inspired by Daenerys Targaryen. She has even started creating her own products including a 14-color eyeshadow palette, so she really knows her stuff. Her YouTube channel offers so many makeup and hair tips, as well as overall fashion advice, and she gives you an inside look into her personal life. She and her boyfriend will make you jealous of how adorable they are, just an FYI.

3. Chloe Morello

Chloe is a YouTube star out of Australia who has been doing beauty tutorials and product reviews since 2012. Although I will admit I don't own 95 percent of the products she uses, I truly enjoy watching her create different makeup and hair looks flawlessly. She is always giving the best advice even for beginners, and her sense of humor makes her videos that much better. She has worked with several makeup brands such as L'Oreal Paris, YSL, Napoleon Perdis, Vaseline, and Simone Perele, so she definitely knows the best techniques and products. And with her wide variety of videos over the years, you can find a tutorial for just about any look you want.

4. My Pale Skin

This YouTube channel run by Em Ford has truly inspired me in my beauty journey. She has had a lot of backlash for her acne/scarring and is an advocate for people who struggle with their skin and still want to feel beautiful. She somehow can transform her skin from red and blemished to airbrushed and flawless. She's also pale of course, and as a fellow pale person I can attest to the struggle of finding products that match my skin tone, so she has been a real life saver. She is from London, so some of the products she uses are unfamiliar to us here in the USA, but most of the things she uses in her tutorials are readily available to us Americans. Plus, her British accent just makes her videos even more adorable.

5. Cosmobyhaley

This YouTube channel run by Haley Wight was one of the first I subscribed to for my makeup addiction, and with only 127,973 subscribers, she's the least popular on my list but my personal favorite. She's a recent beauty school graduate, and her makeup tutorials are so beautifully simple. She uses a lot of drug store products, which is why I personally love her so much, because I can actually recreate these looks without spending hundreds of dollars on high-end products. She has flawless skin and naturally beautiful hair, and pretty much looks perfect without any makeup at all which is why I'm extremely jealous of her. Honestly, there's just something soothing about watching her apply makeup. But if you need to master winged-eyeliner or contouring/baking your face, I would highly recommend her under-appreciated channel.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
