This past week, we celebrated fathers all around the world for being our saviors, superheroes and our closest friends. Dads deserve a celebration for everything that they do for us, but not all dads are the same. Some of us get stuck with ones who are not the best fit for the role. Luckily, TV has introduced us to some of these poor paternal figures to make us feel grateful for our fathers.
Here is a run-down of the worst TV dads:
Stannis Baratheon, "Game of Thrones"
Finding good paternal figures in Game of Thrones is a challenge in itself, but Stannis Baratheon takes the title. He burned his only daughter alive for a chance at becoming king. That is some parenting.
Don Draper, "Mad Men"
His GOOD looks were no compensation for the fact that not only was he a cheating husband, but also an absent father who abandoned his children for his desires. He didn’t know how to interact with them, and did not take any opportunity to show an interest in his own children.
Conrad Grayson, "Revenge"
Evil to say the least, Conrad is the epitome of a selfish man who put the lives of other people at disposal for his profit, including his wife and children. He single-handedly was responsible for a fatal plane crash that killed hundreds, later framed his wife’s lover, and taught his children that money and power always came first.
Dan Scott, "One Tree Hill"
To be honest, there is not much you can expect from a person who murdered his own brother. He made two women pregnant, abandoned the mother of his first child to raise the second child who ended up hating him too.
Peter Griffin, "Family Guy"
Sorry to all the Family Guy fans, but this man is no family guy. When he is not causing destruction with Quahog, he is at home farting on Meg’s face and calling her ugly, ignoring Chris’s attempts at trying to bond with him, and not even acknowledging Stewie.
