5 Worship Songs I'm Loving
stocksnap

I am a huge fan of worship music, and I am always adding to and updating my worship playlist on Spotify. So I want to share with you five of my currents favorites as well as my favorite line from each song.

1. Worthy of Your Name by Passion

Favorite line: “You did not speak, you made no sound. You died for your accusers.”

I think I often forget that Jesus could’ve fought back, defended himself, stood up for himself while on the cross. But He didn’t. This line really hits me because it reminds me of how great Jesus is to us. He knew what needed to happen, so he didn’t fight back. Even though He could’ve easily dismissed every insult hurled at Him with just a few spoken words. He chose to be silent.

2. Wonder by Hillsong UNITED

Favorite line: “I see the world your way.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m quick to form opinions about things I see. But I wonder what the world would look like if instead of forming my opinions based on my own thoughts, I formed my worldview based upon how Jesus sees the world.

3. You Came (Lazarus) by Bethel Music

Favorite line: “You came; I knew that you would come.”

This is probably the simplest line in the whole song, but I think it packs a lot of punch in it. First of all, what I love most about this song is that it is the story of Lazarus. For me, I kind of forgot about Lazarus’ story until this song reminded me of it. How hopeless the situation must’ve felt when Lazarus died. However, Jesus promises that Lazarus is only “sleeping”. If I heard Jesus say this I would probably think, “Uhhh no? He died.” But sure enough, Jesus simply says, “Come out Lazarus!” And Lazarus returns to life. So the reason I like the line “you came, I knew that you would come” so much is because of the faith and certainty of it. Even in the most hopeless situation, to be able to believe that God will do what He says He’ll do is amazing. I want a faith so strong that when God brings me out of a bad situation instead of thinking, “finally, what took you so long?”, I want to think “I knew that you would come.”

4. Lamb of God by Vertical Church Band

Favorite line: “To trade the debt we owed. Your suffering for our freedom.”

His suffering was traded for our freedom. What an unfair trade. Like honestly, Jesus got the short end of the stick. But what’s so beautiful about the person of Jesus is that it didn’t bother Him. He was willing to do what He did because of the great love He has for us.

5. The War Is Over by Bethel Music

Favorite line: “Mercy waits where sinners fall.”

We are all incredibly flawed and fail every day. Without God’s mercy, we would have a big problem on our hands. However, God’s mercy covers all our sin and takes away our shame. We don’t have to fear the consequences of sin, because God’s mercy is waiting for us. He is willing to forgive our sins if we simply ask.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
