Now more than ever it is crucial that young girls are being influenced by the right people. It’s no secret that women have to yell a little louder to be heard in this world. It’s paramount that we teach young girls that it’s possible for them to be whoever they want to be if they put in the effort and never give up.

For this to happen they need good role models. Unfortunately, our society is obsessed with glorifying people like the Kardashians who are more known for the size of their butts than their brains.

Here are 5 women worthy of being looked up to by young girls:

1. Emma Watson

No surprise here. Emma is the definition of perfection in my eyes. She’s sweet, intelligent, and beautiful. Her speech she gave to the United Nations Headquarters in New York back in 2016 was one of the most impactful speeches I have ever heard. She touched on subjects like women’s rights and the epidemic of sexual assault on college campuses. She is the brave Hermione Granger and the elegant Princess Belle wrapped up in one amazing woman.

2. Melissa McCarthy

Melissa is hilarious, unique, and total role model material. Melissa is a very well known actress but she also has a fashion line. She hopes to put an end to the shaming of plus size women. Melissa shows young girls that they don’t have to be a size 0 to be absolutely fabulous. All of us are as unique as a snowflake. We all have different body types and that’s just one of the things that make us who we are! We’re so much more than our jean size.

3. Princess Diana

Who doesn’t love a real life princess? The best part about Princess Diana is she was a huge humanitarian. She was really passionate about helping people who lived under the poverty line. Almost every little girl aspires to be a princess at some point in time. We should show them that Princess Diana is the type of princess they should aspire to be.

4. Lily Collins

Lily Collins is someone who isn’t as well known but someone definitely worth looking up to. Not only is she a successful actress and model she also has a novel coming out soon! She’s a very well-rounded woman. She is also an anti-bullying activist. Bullying is an unfortunate, but very prominent, thing in the lives of young people. We need more people like Lily who are willing to stand up against bullying.

5. Laurie Hernandez

Laurie is sunlight personified. Her smile, curly hair, and energetic personality made her one of the most fun people to watch in the 2016 Rio Olympics! She’s an Olympic gold medalist, Dancing With The Stars champion, New York Times best-selling author, and get this…. She’s only 16!

Honestly, this list could go on and on. We have so many fabulous, fierce, and fun influential women in the world! These women are only a select few who are worthy of recognition.

These women prove that the future truly is female.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
