5 Ways You Can Identify With Cats
Business Insider

If you have ever had a cat or been around a feline friend, I am sure that you have somehow seen something in them that you love (unless you do not like cats). If you dislike cats, be prepared for your mindset to change, because they are awesome creatures. Here, you will find 5 ways that you can identify with cats, and maybe see yourself in them in more ways than you could have imagined.

1. Laziness

Cats are notorious for being indolent creatures and you would be lying to yourself if you did not have a day in your life where you wanted to sit around and do nothing all day. I mean, how awesome would it be to eat and sleep all day long and have no responsibilities for a bit.

2. Being easily entertained

Kitties may be lazy, but they are easily entertained by the little things in life. Toy mice, yarn, real mice, and laser pointers are a few of the countless things that cats can find joy in at their paws. We are similar to this in many ways like the common TV show binge, video game addiction, and getting lost in social media for long periods of time.

3. Constant reaffirmation and affection

If you haven't noticed, cats either love or really really loathe being touched. If you come in contact with a cat that loves affection, do not take it for granted. Soak in the moment. If a kitty lets you in their bubble, take full advantage. We are similar to this in some ways. Us humans like affection when we want it, and in the case of cats they have claws to tell you to back off. Also, if you ever have the privilege of kitty kisses, they are very rare and cherished.

4. We can be a bit moody sometimes

Although we may love affection, like cats, we also like our personal space. Cats have a nice way of telling you to back off. They simply whip out their claws and scratch you until it hurts. I don't think they mean to be hurtful, they just like their bubble to remain intact and if it's popped, they will let you know. We can also be this way. We enjoy our personal space and if it is invaded, we won't scratch you with our claws, but a moody person may come out.

5. We love our food

If you have noticed, cats love food. Wet food, dry food, people food, and sometimes even prey they have hunted and returned to your door as a token of their love. Whichever way they get it, they love their food. Also like us, we love to eat different types of food. Fast food, expensive food, cold food, hot food, and food that we also like to hunt (aka deer, turkey, and fish). We share this trait and it is the best in my opinion.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
