Ahh, Valentine's Day. If you have a significant other this day is amazing filled with chocolates, stuffed animals, and fancy dinners. If you're single, however, this day is filled with what seems like the universe taunting you with love everywhere you walk.

If you are single, fear not! I am giving you five ways to spend your Valentine's Day that do involve celebration!

1. Celebrate Galentine's Day!

Sisters before misters! Who needs a date when you've got a great group of girlfriends! Your girls have been there with you through it all, so your friendship deserves to be celebrated!

2. Date Yourself!

Take a note from Ann Perkins and take yourself on a date this Valentine's Day! Go to a fancy dinner and order something you normally wouldn't, buy yourself chocolates and jewelry and don't feel guilty about it! Today is YOUR day!

3. Celebrate Another Holiday That's February 14th!

Although Valentine's Day does outshine the others, there are actually quite a few holidays that fall on February 14th including Library Lovers Day! So if you aren't celebrating Valentine's Day, then celebrate another holiday!

4. Dedicate This Day To Your Greatest Love: Your Pet

I fully believe that no man could love me as much as my dog does. So really my dog is my true Valentine! I'll be sure to send her a heart-shaped treat and if I was with her I'd spend my day cuddling with her.

5. Find a Substitute Valentine

If you and a friend are both lonely this Valentine's Day, why not pretend to be a couple for a day? This way you get presents, fancy dinner, and the lack of feeling completely alone!

So, to all my fellow single people out there, this Valentine's Day you have plenty of options so that you can feel as loved as that girl who gets flowers delivered to her office.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
