We all 'hit a wall' here and there. Whether it's on a weekly basis or once in a year, it happens to the best of us. All the sudden everything is happening at once - in school, work and personal life, and you crash. It can take a lot of out of your physical and mental abilities. If you don't take care of yourself after, its nearly impossible to rebound and the effects can drag on and on. Just like you ice a bruise or put a band-aid on a cut, you have to mend the wounds after a mental crash. Here are 5 ways to take care of yourself after 'hitting a hall':

1. Organize yourself

Clean your room and organize your environment and it can do wonders for your sanity. Additionally, organize your planner or calendar to make sure you plan ahead and you do not snowball the effects of your mental crash. This way you can plan ahead for any pending or questionable stress triggers in the near future.

2. SLEEP

catch up on some z's. Chances are you are you lost a lot of sleep during the buildup of stress before a during your crash. Sleep is so important in recovery, in anything. Think about it, when you have a nasty cold, what do you require? Yes, some NyQuil, but also a lot of sleep. Same goes for your psyche.

3. Do something for you

Give yourself a little treat. Whether it is hanging out with friends a mindlessly talking and laughing about any and everything or sitting is your room alone reading a pleasure book. Make the time - mental cleansing is a wonderful medicine.

4. Eat some good food

Food feeds the soul (and body, of course). And when you're stressed you're going for the quick meals and junk food. But, a fresh salad or homemade soup is a bowl full of nourishment and happiness. And when you physically pick yourself back up, your mental health comes up with it. Mind and body are like two sides of the same coin.

5. Just breath

Breath in, breath out. Now do it again - mindfulness in its purist form. Sit back and relax. You are over the hump, past the storm and 100% capable of life's challenges, even when you do hit a wall.

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” – Michael Jordan

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
