Some Tips From A Stressed Out Student

5 Ways to Manage Stress In College
Jamie Lenko

When you ask any college student if they're stressed, they will always answer 'Yes'. That's because each person feels and copes with stress differently. Some may just be really good at hiding the fact that they're stressed 24/7, like myself, while others seem to let stress overtake their whole lives. Although it can be scientifically argued that stress to a certain degree is good for us, most people, especially college students today, do not know how to handle and work through all the stress that may come. The next 5 activities are just a few of the things that can be proved to reduce stress when times seem to be getting a little hectic:

1. Watch A Movie

Sometimes it's nice to be a be able to sit down for a few hours and just become completely engrossed in a movie. A little distraction from reality is necessary when life gets busy.

2. Go for A Run

Sometimes what seems to help the most is just going for a run to clear your head. Keeping busy is an essential part of making sure you keep a healthy mind and body.

3. Hangout With Friends

If you live on campus you know how hard it can be to balance school work and time spent with friends. Time management can be a huge factor adding to stress and it's a skill many college students struggle to obtain. But I think that once that fine line is learned, spending time with friends and roommates can be a relaxing activity and can help some destress.

4. Pick Up A New Hobby

If you get stressed easily it's very important to make sure you spend your free time doing something you love.

5. Relax

Sometimes what we really need is to just sit in a room by ourselves and just chill. Laying down and watching Netflix is very relaxing. Go somewhere quiet and read a book even. I think the most important thing is to remember that every once in a while we just need to go and clear our heads, take a second or ourselves and relax.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
