After being single for so long you finally find someone that sweeps you off your feet, right? He makes you forget about all the drama going on and he helps you through any sticky situation you've managed to get yourself into this time. You two finally decide to make things official and you just can't seem to get enough of each other. Everyone sees how happy he makes you, but they all say, 'Enjoy the "Honeymoon" phase while it lasts!" WHY CAN'T IT LAST FOREVER?! This is by far the happiest you have ever been with a guy and everyone just assumes it's a phase. Here are 5 ways to make this "phase" last a lifetime...
1. Communication
Communication is KEY!!! Pay attention to each other and respect each others opinions and values. Allow your boo to finish his sentence and take his thoughts into consideration. (Even if you think he's 100% wrong)
2. Compromising
Finding a common ground is uber important. You two might not agree with a lot of things and it might make the relationship a little rocky if you two are stubborn as a bull-- which most of us are but that's besides the point. Compromising and understanding both sides can help you two go so far in your relationship.
3. Prioritizing your relationship
We get it, we all have to deal with the real world at some point in our lives, but that does not mean we have to throw our relationship to the side. Make it a point to talk to each other a few times a day. Call on your way home from work or when you're walking to the library between classes. I know the world keeps us busy, but c'mon.. no one is THAT busy.
4. Trust
I cannot stress number 4 enough!!! TRUST CAN TAKE YOUR RELATIONSHIP SO FAR!! Without trust how do you expect to have a relationship?? Trick question-- you can't!
5. Go on actual dates.
Netflix and Chill can cut it for a little bit but geez louise! Splurge! And no I am not talking about just the guys. Girls, you can pay too. Treat him to Buffalo Wild Wings so he can watch the game. Guys, take her to see that new Nicholas Sparks movie she's been dying to see. Think of both partners and their interest when going on these dates!
