5 Ways to Know School has Started

Now that we are officially into the fall season, school is in full swing. There is no more escaping the reality and trying to extend summer as much as possible. So, here is a list of five ways you know school has really started:

1. Homework, Homework, and Homework

It is no longer just looking over they syllabus or coming to class prepared to speak about your summer. You are now into the normal schedule of things and writing a paper a week and having a speech due every other is becoming very much a reality. Buckle up and hold on!

2. Test time!

By now, you have probably had a test in every one of your classes. Sure, it may have not been the grade you wanted, but that is expected with every first test of the season.

3. Fitness testing

No school year would be officially started without the "You will now begin the pacer test, ready? Begin!" It's also sad that you probably read it in the familiar woman's voice. Darn her.

4. Weekends? Crammed!

Without the luxury of having every day of the week open to friends, you now have to fit all of your crazy excursions into a span of 48 hours. Along with work, homework, and other activities, your weekends are usually anything but restful.

5. FOOTBALL!

Your best themed outfits are picked out for every game, and the rides are arranged for friends. Now all you have to do is wait for the next home game to cheer on your team, and hope they win!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
