You know that nice commute without heavy traffic you were hoping for on the way to work? Or enjoying a nice train or bus being practically empty because of how early you got up? Unless it's the end of the world, the most common reason being is that a music festival is happening in your town. It might be a little hard to determine for those of us that aren't active online on a regular basis, here's a little guidance for the preplanned festive chaos.
1. Head Ornaments
If you see flocks of people wearing flower crowns or bandanas chances are they're going to ask you for directions. You can't really blame them for asking. Google maps has sent me and friends down one ways plenty or times or make our public transportation route a lot longer than it had to be. Expect the common combination of cutoff shirts, tank tops, and shorts also.
2. Crowded Stores At Night
After most festivals your local Walgreens, CVS, Subway, McDonald's, and Starbucks become a hub for younger festival goers having their parents pick them up from these locations. This is also the breeding ground for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter uploads to update their followers on how their day was.
3. Traffic Jams
With lots of festival goers coming from all over the world chances are a lot of them will be ubering or road tripping to the event. If you're trapped in traffic chances are everyone around you attending the festival will be playing the artist they're most looking forward to while on the way there. This gives you the perfect opportunity to learn the lineup.
4. Getting Mistaken As An Uber
While driving around the event at night don't be surprised if a random herd of festival goers approach your vehicle like a hoard of the undead and ask are you their ride home.
5. Lines
Lines along the road, lines at the venue, lines at local diners, lines everywhere. Often wearing merchandise from bands and performers.
