Christmas break, especially for college kids, is a huge chunk of time. For most schools you get almost a month off between your fall and spring semesters to do pretty much whatever you want. And while this is the perfect time for travel, if you are staying home for this break it definitely doesn’t have to be boring. So here are five things that you could do to make sure that you make the most out of your break.

1. Try reading a new book.

Reading is something that too many of us just don’t do as much as we used to anymore. It’s understandable that everyone gets busy with work and school and after spending hours reading boring textbooks, sometimes the last thing we want to do is read a book. That being said, reading can be incredibly relaxing and you have no excuse not to read at least one good book over break when you have plenty of time. With the countless number of books out there, there is at least one that is perfect for you.

2. Catch up on TV shows.

There are so many good TV shows out there nowadays that it’s hard to keep up. When you are busy all the time it can be hard to catch your favorite TV shows as they air. But, with Christmas break coming around and shows going on hiatus for a while, it is the perfect time to catch up on these shows so that when spring rolls around, you will finally understand all of your friend’s references to what happened on the last episode of "Game of Thrones."

3. Catch up with old friends.

Keeping up with high school friends can be a real challenge, especially if you guys all go to different colleges. Everyone has their own life and everyone is busy, but everyone is in town for the holidays and it gives you the perfect opportunity to meet up with all of your old friends again. If you make the effort to reach out to them and reconnect, you definitely won't regret it.

4. Explore your hometown.

When you grow up somewhere you think that you have seen it all, but chances are that you are overlooking something. Try to find new places around where you live that you haven’t seen or just visit some old favorites.

5. Relax.

Too often we put too much pressure on ourselves to always be productive or be doing something. And while that is generally a good thing, it is also important to take the time to just cherish doing nothing. So this break, just spend some time doing things that are calming and rejuvenating, whether that is taking a bubble bath or just spending time with friends and family.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
