5 Ways To Give Back This Thanksgiving
The Freedom Experiment

With Thanksgiving comes an excitement for football, food, and a break from school. However, we must not forget to actually take time to give thanks for all we have been blessed with. In fact, not only should we be thankful for what we have, but we should also find a way to give back to those around us. Here are some ways you can give back this Thanksgiving.

1. Adopt a soldier.

Give back to those who have given you so much to be thankful for! Reach out to the nearest military installation's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Office for more information. Find the one closest to you here: http://www.militaryonesource.mil/mwr

2. Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter.

Not everyone is guaranteed a hot meal this Thanksgiving. Use this shelter locator to find where you can help this break: http://www.homelessshelterdirectory.org

3. Visit a Retirement Home.

Some residents in a retirement home won't have anyone to come visit them. Find the nearest retirement center and give them the gift of good company!

4. Sponsor a Family.

If you cannot donate your time this season, use the internet to help from the comforts of your home. Think about sponsoring a family in need and get more information here: http://www.feedingamerica.org

5. Donate to a Food Bank.

Whether it comes to extra cans or non-edibles like hygiene items, food banks are always in need of donations. Find the nearest food bank here: http://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodban

After all, true happiness is giving it away.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
