If you are familiar with the weather bug you know the symptoms, sore throat, stuffy nose, sneezing, headaches, and either being too cold or hot. It is that time of year when the weather can be 70 one day and 30 the next, literally. With that type of change in temperature and environment the human body suffers tremendously. Some people have stronger immune systems than others, but regardless a chance of getting sick is still likely. To fight the cold weather bug and sinus infection here are a couple of tips.

1. Stay hydrated!!!

This an important step in any sickness and overall tip to staying healthy in general. Keep your body in tip top shape by keeping it fueled with water.

2. Stay bundled up

In the slightest bit of air or cold front wear a jacket. You may think you don't need on if it is only chilly but if it was 70 yesterday and maybe 50 today your body needs warmth and does not need to be exposed to cold wind and chills.

3. Eat healthy and exercise

To have a strong immune system that can fight off nasty colds you must have a body that is fueled with the right vitamins and minerals. Not only is eating healthy important for a strong body but exercising is too. Healthy lifestyle, healthy body!

4. Isolate your germs

If you have to cough or sneeze please use a tissue or the inside of your elbow to prevent the spread of your germs, others don't need to surfer for your carelessness. And if others do not follow this tip, help them out by using hand sanitizer to keep yourself safe.

5. Medication

And if all else fails and you're caught by the cold weather bug, visit your doctor for treatment!

Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
