5 Ways To Distract Yourself From Packing For College

If there's anything us college students don't look forward to, it's definitely packing for school. Packing for school can be the most annoying thing on this planet if you don't stay organized. It can also go completely, and horribly wrong when you're unpacking if you pack TOO much. So, for those of you who just need a few excuses to delay your packing process, here's some things we can do to distract ourselves from packing.

1. Hangout with your friends from your hometown!

Now that summer is coming to an end, we're all going back to school and so are our friends. We spend most of the summer working and finally, right before school, (and right before we have to pack) there are a few end of the summer bbq's and hangouts planned that you have to go to. Chances are we're always going to spend a few nights out with our friends from our hometown for one last hoorah before we go back to school! (Then we're going to pack of course.)

2. Sleep, a lot.

Many of us spent most of the summer working our lives away, so when we get some free time we seem to sleep most of our day away. It almost seems like it's all you'll ever do once you finally get some free time after working two jobs. Now that you get some time to relax, your bed feels like another world that you never want to leave. Unfortunately, you'll eventually have to give up your bed for the difficult task of folding every single piece of clothing. But, it may take you a second to get out of bed if you love your bed as much as I do.

3. Run some last minute "back-to-school" errands.

We all like to do some back to school shopping. New shoes, clothes, or even some toiletries are probably on the list. Who doesn't like a little shopping? Shopping makes the world go round. It soothes the soul, and it sure as hell is better than packing. But then again, just make sure you don't buy too many things. (Then you'll have to pack them all.)

4. Download some new music for the trip to school.

The 18-hour drive is going to be extremely long without any music to listen to. Make sure you update your iTunes library to the best music out there because driving without good music is like going to a 3D movie without having the 3D glasses and no sound. Downloading new music for the trip to school is key. Mostly also because you won't have time to download music when you're at school anyways because homework, exams and work will take over your life. Oh, and don't forget to add that new frank ocean album to your playlist too, I heard it was lit.

5. Binge watch your favorite show on Netflix.

I'm guilty of this more than anyone, but if there is anyway to distract yourself it's through binge watching Netflix. Whether it's two or three episodes, sometimes you can't resist what might happen next in that new show you just started watching this morning. It's okay, just tell yourself one more episode and (maybe) you can get back to packing.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
