Midterms season can be a crazy time. It seems like there is always something more to do and another class to study for. The whirlwind of it all might get a little overwhelming. Here are a few ways to take a step out of the chaos of it all and slow down.
1. Have dinner with your friends.
Whether you go
out to eat, someone cooks, or you all meet up for a trip to the dining hall,
it’ll be a great time. One big group dinner is bound to relieve stress as
everyone shares stories and cracks jokes. Nothing eases your mind like good
food and good company.
2. Head to the gym.
While getting your heart rate doesn’t seem like the most relaxing thing, the after affect will be a great refresher. There’s nothing like the post-gym endorphins to help you feel happy healthy.
3. Visit/Call home.
If your home is close enough, take a trip home. Getting yourself out of the college setting can be the break you need to unwind. If going home isn’t possible set up a long Skype or facetime date with your family. Hearing about their lives back home can be a much-needed change from the topics of upcoming essays due and midterm grades.4. Get off campus.
Either grab some friends and make a day of going to the beach, on a hike, or whatever is available near you school. Getting off campus will remind you that there is a whole world outside of quizzes and exams and homework. Take some time off from being a student and just enjoy the day.
5. Do a little self-care.
Sometimes just feeling refreshed can change your whole attitude. Pick a day on the weekend and sleep until you wake up feeling rested. Treat yourself to a long, warm shower so you can scrub off all the stress of the week and wash your hair for added relaxation. After that do whatever you want. Watch Netflix, go to the pool, paint your nails, etc. A day all about you might just be what the doctor ordered.
