Let's face it, we're all going broke. Between textbooks, tuition, and those impulse pizzas you keep buying there seems to be NO WAY you could POSSIBLY have any money leftover. But before you feel like completely giving up, check out this list of stores will help you make that minimum wage paycheck last a little longer and give you that extra treat yo self money.
- The Dollar Store
As obvious as this one might seem, the dollar store literally has everything you need… FOR JUST A DOLLAR. Toothpaste, deodorant, laundry detergent, trash bags, tupperware, basically everything you need to adult on a budget.
2. TJMaxx
This is one is my personal favorite. I’ll buy anything from home décor to socks here (and you should too). It’s just one of those places where you can buy things you probably don’t need at a price you don’t feel guilty for!
3. Goodwill
Okay, okay, before you scoff about poppin tags Goodwill really should be #1 on every college students list. Before I moved into my apartment I decided to hit up my local Goodwill for some kitchen supplies and was AMAZED at all of the high quality cookware I found, for NEXT TO NOTHING. The lady browsing in the same aisle as me even told me they send out monthly 20% off coupons that can be used an unlimited amount of times. Although it takes some serious bargain hunting, the payoff can be BIG.
4. Walmart (for basically everything)
Walmart is known to be the number one place for big savings but something you might not know about is there receipt scanning app that reimburses you for items that were found at lower prices elsewhere. So far I’ve racked up about $35 dollars in store credit that I would have otherwise never have seen back in my pocket.
5. Trader Joe's
If you have one near you, consider yourself lucky. Trader Joes has become my grocery store of choice not only because of all of the healthy options available but the prices cannot be beat, especially for produce. They also have an incredible selection of healthy frozen meal options that are perfect for college students with little time to make actual meals. Eating healthier and saving cash never tasted so good!
Get out there and get those savings!
