That time is almost here, the long awaited end of 2016. With this new year comes the idea of a new you, or at least the idea of some sort of change. While not all people practice setting a New Year's resolution, quite a few do and quite a few have trouble keeping them. If you happen to be in the bunch that can't quite keep their resolutions easily, I invite you to join the club. Here are a few ways you can make sure you stick to your word and really make the most of your New Year's resolution.

1. Set Reasonable Goals

Many people want to set a goal that will ideally change their life forever, or at least bring a great change. This is great if you believe you can really stick to it, but if these types of resolutions are a tall order, try something a little more simple. One of the best ways to guarantee change is to take it one step at a time, so take a step instead of a mile.

2. Practice Self-forgiveness

Remember that everyone deserves forgiveness, including yourself! One screw up wont completely void all of the other work you've done towards your resolution, just try and ensure it doesn't happen again. It may even be better for you to make certain cheat days when you can break your resolution. One step at a time.

3. Build the Habit

Anything becomes easier to do the more often you do it. Your resolution can definitely become a habit if you just keep it up for a couple days. Many specialists agree that it only takes about a month to incorporate something into your routine. Pretty soon that resolution will just become a part of your life.

4. Give Yourself Credit

So you probably realize this resolution stuff can be pretty hard, so make sure you recognize all of the hard work you're putting in. It is just as important to give yourself credit as it is to keep the resolution itself. Make sure you reward yourself every now and then and don't be afraid to be proud, you're doing great things.

5. Have a Buddy

It may be hard to do this if your friends wont cooperate, but if you can get a friend to follow your resolution with you, your effort becomes so much easier. A partner in crime can help keep you motivated in check when following your resolution, plus it will better them too! Just remember to appreciate the effort they make for you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
