We’re back for a new year! Leaves are changing colors, we’re spending all our food money on Starbucks, and pretty soon we will need a sweater all day long, not just in the morning. It’s a time for fresh starts, and if you’re like me, you really want to start the year off right. Here’s how!

1. Go to a football game!

Tailgate and show some school pride! If you’ve never been to football game before, cross it off your to-do list and make it to one of many home games this fall. It's a big part of the whole college experience - and the only time you'll be able to get great seats for a really low price.

2. Enjoy the outdoors!

Campus is beautiful in the fall — stop to pay attention once in a while. Enjoy your pumpkin spice latte with no regrets. Carve pumpkins and stash them in your apartment courtyard for others to enjoy!

3. Limit yourself on campus food!

Don't get burned out on the best food on campus too early. There's only so much Twisted Taco and Chick-fil-a you can take. Space it out so you don't hate what was once your favorite food by Christmas. Even though we want to deny it, and no matter how good it is, we all know its unhealthy.

4. Use the library!

We all make plans to stay on top of studying in the beginning of the semester... actually do it! Don’t wait until finals roll around to finally visit the library - it's not a bad place to be. Find your study spot early on in the semester and stick to it. You'll actually study and know the best study spots - that means less time running around the 3rd floor trying to find an open chair mid-finals week.

5. Join a new club!

Life gets boring and slow if you're not busy enough. Expand your horizons, meet new people, and try something new by joining a new RSO.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
