We are now officially in the month of October, or the month of Halloween if you're a dedicated fan like myself. This is the time where ghouls and ghosts rule the scene, and the easily frightened watch themselves around every corner. If you're looking to get into this hallowed holiday, here are five easy and affordable ways.

  1. Pumpkin/ apple picking

Not only will it force you to leave your dorm room, (remember that promise you made to yourself January 1st to lose weight and exercise more?) it is a great way to enjoy the crisp fall air and get some yummy treats. Whether you go apple or pumpkin picking, you're guaranteed to have a great time and a memorable afternoon

2. Ready to Bake Halloween cookies

Everyone's favorite ready to bake cookies are back for the season! All you have to do is take them out of the package and place them on a baking sheet and then in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. They come in fun shapes such as bats, pumpkins, and ghost printed cookies.

3. Go to a haunted hayride

A deviation from the standard haunted house, a haunted hayride puts you out in the open where monsters can come right up and grab you! Some places will allow their actors to touch and pull at your legs, some will not. Either way, a trip through the woods will never be the same after the hayride is concluded, if you make it through.

4.Go to a corn maze

A perfect way to pay homage to the most important crop in American history, a corn maze is a perfect fall activity. It will bring you and your group closer together as you try and navigate your way out of the never-ending stalks of corn.

5. EAT!

Along with fall comes some of the best foods of the year. Apple and pumpkin pies, apple cider, apple doughnuts, butternut squash and candied apples are just a few fall foods.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
