Visit California

Living in the Central Coast of California, it's no surprise that often I travel further down south to visit different theme parks and beaches. Southern California is known for many things but most specifically I have been spending a lot of time down in Orange County, so I have comprised a list of a few known, and maybe new ideas to spend your time this summer!

1. Disneyland

Disneyland, located in Anaheim, is almost everyone's first choice in choosing an activity to do while in SoCal. Whether you're spinning in the teacups, or walking over to California Adventure to ride upside down on California Screamin', you can't go wrong with taking a trip to Disney.

2. Angels/Ducks Game

Whether you are a huge sports fan or not, tickets to either a baseball game to watch the Anaheim Angels, or a hockey game to watch the Anaheim Ducks are not as expensive as you would expect. Seeing any live game is much more fun than watching it on TV, also who doesn't love stadium food?

3. The Irvine Spectrum Center

The Irvine Spectrum has an array of shops and restaurants, along with a movie theater with reclining seats, a Dave and Busters, and a Ferris Wheel to ride on if you aren't entertained enough. Any night or day spent here is going to be a fun one.

4. Great Park Balloon

The Great Park Balloon sits upon the Great Park which is located in Irvine. Although the Great Park holds bike paths and sports fields, the Hot Air Balloon ride is the main attraction. Although closed Monday-Wednesday, it is open Thursday-Sunday on select hours. Going about 400 feet in the air, and fitting 25-30 people, the Great Park Balloon is a great experience to take on a sunny day.

5. Hiking

Whether you are feeling like a stroll through the wilderness to hike up to a waterfall or instead a warm hike to have a great view of Laguna Beach. There are many different hikes to pursue in Orange County but two more specifically are The Top of the World hike and the Holy Jim Trail.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
