5 Ways To Spend Your Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner, and for many, we've procrastinated on plans and costumes alike. As a college student in particular, there are a lot of great options for Halloween night. Halloween is personally my favorite holiday, since it gives me a free pass to dress up as insanely as I want, and no one will think twice about it. It's super fun, and there are so many great ways to celebrate it. All of these check off the necessary Halloween traditions - mainly, eating copious amounts of sugar and dressing up as someone else for a day.

1. Bring a few buddies or a date and find the nearest pumpkin patch.

Pumpkin patches around Halloween time are a signature part of the Halloween experience. Many of them will have corn mazes or some sort of haunted attraction to draw visitors who want to be spooked. If there is no such attraction there, pumpkin patches are also great for photoshoots. Pick up a few pumpkins while you're there and throw a carving party, or you can even bake a pumpkin pie!

2. Stop by a costume party, or throw your own.

These are always a fun way to see others' creativity as well as for them to see yours! It's a fun way to show off your costume, as well as socialize. If it's a busier party, there's always someone new to talk to. If it's a small get together, throw on some scary movies in the background, or bake some Halloween themed goodies!

3. Go trick or treating!

Who says kids get to have all the fun?? Trick or treating is just as enjoyable as an adult as it is when you're younger, even if it's a little less socially acceptable. Bring friends along and go trick or treating in your neighborhood and bring in that sweet, Halloween candy goodness.

4. Have a night out, with costumes.

If you're not looking for Halloween themed party, but still want to socialize, take a few friends to walk around downtown or another popular spot on Halloween night. Go to dinner and see a movie, or go get ice cream! This way, you'll be able to see other costumes, wear your own, but act like it's a regular night out. This is a more relaxed, but still fun way to spend your Halloween.

5. Have a night in.

Either by yourself, or with a very small group of people, have a movie night or a game night. This is the most relaxed way to spend your Halloween if you're not in the mood for a lot of excited people milling around. Sometimes, though, these kinds of nights are the best if you're stressed out and need to relax.

Whichever route you choose to take, have a happy and SAFE Halloween!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
