5 Ways To Get Out Of Your Slump
Work Purposefully

Everyone at some point in their life finds themselves in a slump. Maybe you don't know what you want, you can't make a big decision, or you just don't feel like yourself anymore. During this difficult time in slumpsville, it can be hard to feel like yourself. So... here are some things that might help you out!

1. Declutter your closet-- yes, even the dress that is too small but would look perfect if you met Harry Styles.

It's hard to get rid of clothes sometimes, for me it's especially hard to get rid of t-shirts that I got from activities or events I have participated in. But, handing off a big bag of clothing to goodwill is one of the most satisfying feelings.

Anything that you haven't worn in the past 6 months needs to leave, and then you will be left with clothing you love and room in your closet to experiment with new fashions. Feeling great about the clothes you wear and how you look will help you feel confident and better about yourself!

2. Mess with your hair-- cut it, dye it, shave it, regrow it, and then cut it again.

We've all been there, trying to figure out what new style you should try-- next time you find yourself in a hair rut, consider the big chop! A drastic haircut, a crazy color, or even a daring shaved section can help you feel like a completely new person! If you aren't ready for a big jump, just try dip died ends or taking off a little more hair with your next trim!

3. Write down the things that stress you out or make you angry, then tear, burn, or throw the paper.

This is was not my idea, but one afternoon when I came home from an especially hard day in middle school my mom told me to do exactly this. I wrote down what was making me upset, then threw it into our fireplace and watched it disappear-- it was better than any rant session I have ever had.

While talking through situations can be a great thing to do, having a rant session can also end up riling you up more. Sometimes it's better to just acknowledge the negative thing, watch it disappear, and then let it go from your mind and your thoughts. After you feel and watch all the stress leave your life, you can focus on the positive aspects of your life and can feel better about your everything.

4. Don't pick up a new "hobby", but do try something new.

Do not under any circumstances try to force yourself into a hobby - especially if you have to pay for classes! However, do try something new-- you can look on Pinterest and find some simple DIYs, try drawing or painting something for a friend, or transform an old piece of clothing into a new fashion piece. Forcing yourself to do a class or start an expensive hobby is not always the best option, but doing a few simple projects that will give you fun outcomes is a good way to spend time and have fun!

5. Buy a white board and make it a goal board.

On this board write your future goals, current goals, and put up your to-do list for the day or week. This will help you visualize your future goals, and crossing stuff off of your to-do list will help you feel accomplished. This idea will also help you figure out what you want, which will make you feel more in tune to yourself.

Here is the link to create the goal board pictured above.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
