5 Ways To Make The Most Of Your Day Off

Between summer jobs and summer classes, it can be hard to find time for friends and fun. When you finally find yourself with a free day, it can feel impossible to pack everything you’ve been wanting to do into just a few hours. Here are five ways to make the most of your day off.

1. Sleep is NOT for the weak.

It's okay to use your free day as a day free of stress. You’ve been working hard all week and have definitely earned yourself a day of rest and relaxation. Some days, nothing sounds better than sleeping in, eating a big lunch and then taking an even bigger nap. Use this day to pamper yourself and prepare for the work week ahead of you.

2. Get creative!

If you do decide to go out somewhere, make it somewhere fun! Look into upcoming events in your community. Summer nights are the perfect time to attend an outdoor movie, participate in free yoga in the park, or visit some food trucks.

3. Don't go it alone.

You may get lucky and find that some of your besties have a free day too! Make every event better by making it a group outing. Even something as simple as a trip to Target becomes a fabulous adventure when you add a few of your favorite people.

4. You can have it all!

Don't limit yourself to one fun event per day. Instead, seize the day and make every moment count! Waking up to cook a large breakfast before meeting up with your friends for a day by the pool is an easy way to add something to your day and pamper yourself a bit before trying to be a social butterfly.

5. Plan Ahead.

Don’t wait until the last minute to try to plan something fun with your friends. Instead, use your week to look forward to your free day and put a little extra effort into planning your weekend adventures.

With these five hints in mind, you will have a day off that even Ferris would envy in no time!

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
