5 Ways To Keep Your Relationship Fresh

We all have had that feeling in a relationship where you think that things are going a bit stale, where things are getting a little boring, you're not going on dates anymore or doing fun and adventurous things. You're just getting a little bored with each other and neither of you wants to admit it. So here are some ways to keep things fresh.

1. Take them somewhere that's special to you.

The beginning stages of the relationship can always be a little tough. You're still getting to know the person and you're not quite sure what to do to spice things up a little bit. Since you're still getting to know them, take them somewhere that is near and dear to you. Take them to your hometown if possible, or take them to your favorite food truck, or your favorite little itty bitty bookstore. It clues them into the things that you love and it brings them closer to you.

2. Spontaneous romantic road trip.

When you're a little farther into the relationship and more comfortable with each other, a small affordable road trip might be the medicine that both of you need. Maybe stress at school or work or the stress of life in melding in your relationship and some time away can do you both some good. If you're here in Indiana like I am, Nashville, IN is a great romantic destination. You have cabins, horseback riding, and little shops that are locally owned. Even going to Indianapolis can be a little getaway for the both of you. Spending a night in a hotel and walking around downtown and around the circle can be both cheap and refreshing to your relationship.

3. Take a class with them.

There is always something new that you can do together. Doing activities with them like taking a kickboxing class, a cooking class, or even a wine and canvas can be a new experience for the both of you. It can spark something new between the two of you, it can start a new tradition, or it can grab your interest and make you want to do it together at home. I think that the kickboxing class would be one of my favorites. Especially if one of you are extremely competitive, it can bring out the worst and the best of you. Cooking together can definitely be an experience that you want to keep doing together at home. All the while you are learning something new and bringing some freshness back into your relationship.

4. Recreate a turning point in your relationship.

Every relationship has a turning point, where you realize that you want to spend the rest of your life with them or if you don't. You can recreate the moment that you knew that you fell in love with them or your first date or the time that they first kissed you. Just recreate special moments in your relationship to remind you why you fell in love with them or why you started dating in the first place. Sometimes life can get in the way of remembering why you chose each other, don't let life get in the way of something as beautiful as two people loving each other.

5. Spend quality time together.

I know that it may sound lame, but just spend some quality time together. Spend time cuddling on the couch or cuddling before you go to bed. Let everything that is going on in your life go and just be with each other. Spend time with each other, just the two of you. Go see a movie or go to a fancy dinner or order Chinese takeout and watch Netflix.

Before your relationship goes stale, remind yourself why you love them, remind yourself that every relationship has its ups and downs, you just have to work to get through them. Go on dates, be adventurous, and don't forget to love one another.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
