1. Put The Phone & Technology Down!
Trust me, I know how difficult it can be because I struggle with this task daily. I can tell you for a fact that if you set aside a certain time slot where you put your phone away and get off the social media, it's proven that you can be productive.
2. Eat Healthy and Stay Hydrated.
One of the most important things during finals week is staying healthy and eating right. We all know we eat tons of snacks for those late night study sessions but it's not going to help you focus. Instead, eat more nutrient-dense foods such as whole grains, fruit, veggies, etc that will keep you fuller and help with your mental focus!
3. Get Plenty of Sleep.
Being college students stressed out with all these different finals, we're all going to be tempted to pull all-nighters to try and cram in as much studying as we can. It's been proven staying up all night actually does nothing to help you, but only hurts you more. Study your notes right before getting a good night sleep. You will retain more information, will be more alert and you won't end up falling asleep in your final. Catch those Z's, you'll need them!
4. Start Studying Early.
Do not, I repeat, do NOT procrastinate no matter how much you may want to! Start early and prepare well. Don't just sit there and look at your notes! Rewrite them, watch tutorials, do practice problems, anything to get your mind thinking in the mode of your final! If you start early, you are guaranteed more time to practice and time for follow-up questions.
5. Take Breaks & Relieve Stress In Healthy Ways.
While studying, treat yourself to breaks for a designated amount of time. Maybe you study for 45 minutes and then take a break for 10 or 15 minutes. And always, always take the time to relieve your stress. Finals are overwhelming, but take the time to go work out or eat a healthy snack or even squeeze a stress ball or color! Occupy your mind for a period of time that will let you relax, refocus and reenergize.
With that said, take these 5 tips into consideration and go knock 'em dead! Good luck, and may your finals be ever in your favor.
