It is unquestionable that the warmth of summer allows us to feel our best selves. Our hair gets lighter, our skin gets darker, and we possess a natural glow that’s hard to replicate. As the seasons change and it begins to get colder, it is easy to get down on ourselves. However, there are some simple ways to combat the brisk weather, and show the cold who’s boss!

1. Cute outfits

There is nothing better than finally breaking out your big comfy sweaters. During these cold winter months, it is essential to stay as warm as possible. By throwing on a comfy sweater with leggings or jeans, and booties, you can accomplish warmth and style all in one.

Having a variety of jacket’s is also a great trick to changing up your day to day look. Pairing simple joggers and a long sleeve with a trendy bomber jacket will leave you comfortable and fashionable. Jacket’s with big fur hoods are always a great photo opportunity, and who doesn’t love that!

2. Self-tanning

I don’t know about you, but I feel my best self when I am tan. Unfortunately, it is hard to achieve the optimal tan during the long winter months. Luckily, there are several products available to achieve natural and healthy looking tans.

Going for a spray tan is an instant self-confidence boost in the middle of January! Other options are St. Tropez Tanning Mousse, Jergens Lotion, and L'Oreal Tanning Towelettes. Who said you can’t bring vacation to your house?

3. Staying hydrated

It is easy for your skin to dry out from the chilly winter air. Always keeping lotion or moisturizer in your bag will help keep your skin moist and glowing.

Drinking water in between endless cups of hot coffee is also important to keeping your body hydrated during these cold months.

4. Fun with accessories

Hats, scarves, and gloves are definitely a winter luxury. Pom-pom hats with a matching scarf are the perfect addition to any cute outfit. Whether you are walking to class or having a fun day with your friends, winter accessories will keep you warm, and looking your best self.

5. Embrace it!

While it may be simple to accomplish the above steps, I’m sure you’re still wishing it was summer. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do to change the inevitable seasons. Learning to accept it and embrace it will make you not only happy, but give you even more incentive to look forward to the warmth!

Maybe you didn’t know you had a hidden talent for snowboarding. Give winter sports a try, and if you suck at them, at least it’ll give you a great photo opp!

All in all, we all wish it was warm all year long. However, accepting the brutally cold months and making the most of them can truly make us happy, healthy, and most importantly, looking our personal best!

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
