5 Ways To Clear Your Mind

Whether it's from the every day stresses of life or something traumatic that happened in your life, our minds tend to get a little foggy now and then. Ever wanted to just stop thinking about whatever you're thinking about? Lucky for you, there are plenty of simple ways to clear your head from the constant rush of thoughts.

1. Read a book

By reading a book you can redirect your mind to thinking about whatever is happening in the book rather than what's going on in your life. Just find a quiet place away from distractions and dive in to a good book, you'll find a lot of your stress relieved.

2. Exercise

Exercise is the number one way to clear your head, ask anyone. Exercising when you're worrying or just can't stop thinking about something actually helps you get a better workout. You end up channeling the energy you're putting into worrying into a good workout. So now you're not only not worrying anymore, but you dropped a couple pounds too.

3. Write down your thoughts

A lot of the times the reason your mind gets foggy, or you find yourself thinking about the same thing for a long time, is because you're letting all of your emotions build up without giving them an outlet. If you just stop and write down all the thoughts flooding your brain, you won't be as "stuck".

4. Turn off your phone

This may be a lot for you, but sometimes you need to just turn it off. Turn. Off. Your. Cellphone. If your mind is overwhelmed with thoughts the last thing you need is for your phone to be buzzing every 10 seconds.

5. Take a nap

The reason for the clogging thoughts in your mind could just be because you're tired. Even just a 30 minute power nap could do you some good.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
