1. A 101-year-old man took his whole family skydiving - and broke a record in the process.
101-year-old Verdun Hayes became the oldest person in the world to complete a 15,000 foot tandem jump when he took his whole family skydiving on May 13th.
Hayes took the record-breaking plunge with eight family members and two close friends at Dunkesfield Airwell in England.
"I felt just over the moon," Hayes said after he accomplished his goal of beating the world record.
2. A veterinarian serenaded an anxious dog to calm her down before surgery.
When Ruby the golden retriever was feeling anxious and agitated before her surgery, Dr. Ross Henderson of Fox Hollow Animal Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado grabbed his guitar and serenaded her.
Dr. Henderson reportedly loves to sing and play guitar and frequently performs for the office cat, Greg.
"I think he's immune to it, though," said Henderson. He added that his own dog, Charlie, is also "sick of him singing."
Regardless, Dr. Henderson's efforts to soothe Ruby's nerves before her operation were well-received.
3. The owner of this disabled goldfish constructed a 'wheelchair' to help him swim.
When aquarium owner Derek Burnett noticed that one of his goldfish was always sinking to the bottom of the tank, he made him a water-proof floatation device to help keep him afloat.
When asked about his invention, Burnett said, "I just had to try something. Next thing you know, I had the goldfish wheelchair."
According to Burnett, the little guy now has no problem swimming.
4. After nearly going blind due to cataracts, an elderly pitbull was given contact lenses to help her see again.
Earlier this year, Gremlin the 11-year-old pitbull was suffering from severe cataracts that seriously affected her vision and quality of life.
Her owners decided to take things into their own hands when they enlisted a veterinary ophthalmologist to custom-make a pair of contact lenses to restore Gremlin's eyesight.
Gremlin's owners say her quality of life is much improved thanks to the contacts and she's now back to her happy-go-lucky self.
5. When a young man missed his college graduation due to delays on the subway, bystanders on the train put on a commencement ceremony of their own.
After being stuck on the subway for over an hour and a half on the way to his commencement ceremony, graduate Jerich Alcantara turned to surrounding passengers and joked, "Thank you guys for coming to see my graduation. It means a lot."
In an attempt to make the most of the situation, bystanders decided to put together their own graduation for the young man. One passenger made a makeshift diploma out of scrap paper while another played the sentimental song "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day on his phone. The "ceremony" was caught on video and posted online, garnering over 2 million views on facebook.
Although he eventually got off the subway and made it to the graduation ceremony just as it ended, Alcantara revealed that he was grateful for his unique graduation experience. "Not everyone gets to have a commencement in a train," he said.
