Spring break is here!! Bring out the Hawaiian skirts and mocktails! (For those who are old enough -- how about a non-virgin pina colada!) Seriously, it's time to relax and soak up some extra sleep time. But amongst binge watching new TV shows and catching up to old ones, or reading books you didn't get to read for fun while frying your brain with knowledge you must do five things that require a little more attention.
1. Go to the doctor.
Since you've been in school for a while without any real medical attention it doesn't hurt to get a check up. Whether it be to the OBGYN to check out your lady parts ladies, or to the dentist. Why not even throw in a massage? Yes it's break time but give your body the extra TLC it needs to get through another half of semester so you can conquer it all. Even a nice hot bath will help your body get some type of relaxation.
2. Do your homework!
I know I'm a victim of the "I'll do my homework over break," but won't wind up doing it till the day before I have to go back to school. Deep down I know it sucks but just do it! Get all your homework and studying out of the way early on in the week so you can do more fun things like doing nothing.
3. Spend time with family.
Some students go home once in a while before break and spend time with love ones and some don't. For the ones who don't get the time to, you should plan a day or two to hang out with parents and siblings. Don't book your whole break with just your friends and your bed. Make time for family and take advantage of still having them around.
4. Go outside.
Take a walk or bike around your neighborhood. Soak up as much sun as you can. Breathe! After midterms it's a good idea to go out and have some fun. Don't be that person who stays in their room all day and night, only showing their face for food. Spring Break is the time to have fun and get away from things you normally do. So even if it's a mini road trip to New Jersey or a night trip to the MET. Go out and stretch your legs, walk your dog and, once again breathe!
5. Set new goals.
You did it! You made it through mid-terms. Now what? Any extra credit or late assignments you need to catch up on? If not, take the time to plan out the rest of your semester and make mini goals for yourself so you can make it to finals easy! Look at what other homework you have coming up and get a head start if you can. Plan out time in your schedule so you can go to the gym because it's never too late to work on that beach body! Look at what activities your school has coming up and fit that into your schedule as well so you can show some school spirit. Look for a tutor if you know you're struggling in Spanish and bombed the mid-term. Take the time, now, so you won't stress about it later!
Hopefully, these five tips that you probably didn't think about helped you! The time is now so get moving and sleeping -- you need that too!
