Sometimes, great movies fall through the cracks. Maybe they're released on the same day as a highly awaited Marvel movie, or on a Wednesday night during a snow storm. Regardless, these movies deserve to get the recognition that has been truly earned.
Here are 5 great movies that no longer have the attention they deserve.
5. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
The classic 1968 movie is a movie I watched all throughout my childhood, but apparently, many children of my generation were deprived of this humourous story. One of the highlights of this movie are the beautiful songs sung that can be remembered for a lifetime.
4. Disney's Hercules (1997)
This 1997 Disney film was one that took the classic story of Hercules and made it a 9/10 animated movie with great music. This movie may have fallen through the cracks due to the odd animation, a transitional animation technique between 1990's and early 200's.
3. Treasure Planet (2002)
Treasure Planet, a movie that shot beyond the stars, fell short due to odd animation, much like Hercules. Despite this, it still had the ability to rake in $109.6 million (USD). Many people are critical of this movie, which takes the great adventure story to a new level, but it still averages about 67% positive views.
2. Iron Giant (1999)
A classic movie that teaches the importance of friendship through the relationship between a robot and a boy, including stars such as Vin Diesel and Jennifer Aniston, somehow seemed to be a box office flop with only $31.3 million (USD) against the $70-80 million budget. The movie may have fallen in the box office, but won 9 Annie Awards out of the 15 it was nominated for.
1. The NeverEnding Story (1984)
In 1984, The NeverEnding story starring a boy, Bastian, reads a story that he somehow gets pulled into and must save this fantasy universe from "the nothing." It is without a doubt one of the best, and most underrated movies, of all time. This fossil is a gem that everyone must watch immedieatly.
