It's campaign week for Yell Leaders at Texas A&M and we all know that it's time for some difficult decisions. Here are some of your favorite TV shows to help you figure out what kind of voter you are:
1. You actually know them.
These people are your friends, family, boyfriends, or maybe even people in your classes. Campaign week is usually a nightmare. You're wearing their t-shirts, holding their banners, sharing their information on Facebook, and who knows what else. Most likely by now you have their slogan ingrained in your brain and find yourself saying “Whoop for __” or “5 for Yell” more than your own name. Your goal? Simple. Yes, getting them elected is great for them, but how cool is it to casually comment, “Yeah, I actually know one of the Yell Leaders”?
2. You think they are really cute.
Okay ladies, you have to admit that this is a factor. These guys are all over the campus, at every football game, and a true representation of your school. Plus, meeting them is not only an enviable, but Instagram-able moment.
3. You checked social media today.
Okay, the campaigning strategies worked. You have NO idea what anyone on your social media is actually doing because all you can see is the campaigners. You find yourself continuously having to stalk other people to remember what they actually look like, since their profile picture is definitely NOT them. So it’s campaign week and you’ve seen your friends continuously post about one candidate. I guess they look like a nice person?
4. You don’t know them, yet are probably way too invested.
This person may be in your organization, the kid in the back of your math class, or a friend of a friend. Either way, you are now their biggest supporter. You want the next yell leader who is reppin’ your lifestyle. Now you don’t know exactly what it is that makes you want them to win so badly, but know they NEED to win.
5. You are a hardcore 5 for Yell fan.
Whether you’re a member of the corps of cadets or you just are a fan of tradition, you always vote for "5 for Yell." You don't change. It’s tradition.
But no matter what, we all know that we will be proud to call these people our Yell Leaders. See y'all on game day!
