The time after finals before the next Fall semester, or Summer, is the time to take a breath from the busy time of the school year. Even with some Summer classes or a part-time job, you will hopefully be able to relax and catch up on some of your favorite shows on TV. Here are five television shows that you should either start or catch up on if you feel a sudden Netflix/ cable craving!

1. "The White Princess"

If you:

a) have seen The White Queen (this is the sequel series)

b) have a love of British history

or

c) want to see the historical inspiration behind Game of Thrones,

...this is the show for you! This show is the perfect mix of drama, history, and mystery following Elizabeth of York, Elizabeth Woodville's daughter, and her journey in the cut-throat court of British royals in the time of the Tudor era. This television show, like The White Queen, is based on books by Phillipa Gregory and the time period of The War of the Roses. If you want to check this out, catch it on Starz now!

2. "The Handmaid's Tale"

This show on Hulu is also based off of a book but was written by Margaret Atwood. The plot revolves around a dystopian society in which there is a feudal system in a world where the population is drastically declining due to fertility issues. Women are captured to become surrogates for rich societal members. The life of a woman named Offred, who is separated from her family, is followed by the show. Through Offred's witty narration and suspense of the events that occur, this thought-provoking show definitely makes the list.

3. "Grace and Frankie"

When you need a little comedy in your life, this Netflix original should be the next on your radar. There are three seasons already up online, but this makes the list because of the lovable characters and the way humor is combined with drama of the characters' lives changing in extreme ways. Two women in their early 70s who are stark opposites, one a hippie and one a fashionista, learn to care for each other when their husbands want to divorce them for each other.

4. "The Bachelorette"

How could I not put this on here? The Bachelorette may be a reality TV show, but it is something that is a guilty pleasure for a plethora of us. It is also the first season with a Black bachelorette! I cannot wait to see Rachel do her thing. As seen in Nick's season, this woman is strong (she is an attorney!), and I hope she puts some of these guys in their places. This also gives you an excuse to get your girlfriends together every Monday night. Catch this on ABC May 22nd!

5. "Game of Thrones"

I can't apologize for this either. This is very widely known throughout the world, but the upcoming season (season 7) is about to be the best thing to happen to me all summer, especially after the last two episodes in the 6th season. In case you are waiting just like I am, the season premieres July 16th, 2017. If you happen to have not watched this yet, DO IT!!! You will not regret it. Even if you don't think fantasy is your thing, this is something everyone should try.

Happy Watching!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
