It seems like only yesterday the Patriots ran away with the Super Bowl title. Now, we have yet another NFL season upon us. Will the Patriots be victorious again? Or will a dark horse come and steal the Lombardi Trophy right out from under their eyes? Only time will tell how each team does in this next year. I myself have some predictions of my own, which are totally accurate and not implausible at all. Without further ado, I present my top five predictions for the 2017-2018 NFL season.
1. The Browns will make the playoffs.
This will happen, I guarantee. For a team that only had one win last year, the only way to go is up. Expect injuries on the Steelers and Ravens to boost their winning percentage within their division. I expect them to go as far as the AFC Championship game, where they will lose a heartbreaker to the Miami Dolphins.
2. Tony Romo will come back.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Brett Favre 2.0. After deciding to retire this past year from the Dallas Cowboys, Romo will be unable to resist the urge to come back after Dak Prescott fails to live up to the glory of last year. Under his leadership, the Cowboys will just miss the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
3. The Eagles will win the Super Bowl.
This is definitely NOT because I am a Philadelphia fan. No, I believe that, after years of almost being the perfect team, the Eagles have found their stride. Carson Wentz has a year under his belt with this coaching staff. This will push him to become the MVP of the Super Bowl, beating the Miami Dolphins with a last-second touchdown by a score of 28-21.
4. The Patriots will not make the playoffs.
I know this one will be hard for all the Patriots fans here in the Boston area. After successfully earning his fifth Super Bowl rin, Brady will be unable to repeat. The weight of pleasing the fans will be too much for him and his company, which leads me to my final prediction...
5. Tom Brady will retire.
Folks, you can only be on a special diet without tomatoes for so long. And at 40 years old, your body is going to want to stop being hit by men weighing over 200 or 300 pounds. After a disappointing season, Brady will realize that he can no longer be the man from 2016, quietly retiring before having his jersey retired in 2018.
So with that, I end my predictions for the season. Will they come true? Probably not. But if they do, do not say Sarah Ernst did not warn you!
