With Halloween being right around the corner, the Halloween Spirit hasn’t quite hit for some people. Halloween is one of the United State’s most beloved holidays—people love the ghosts, the ghouls, the ability to be anything or anybody without judgment for one day out of the year. But, as we get older, the spirit of once beloved holidays may dwindle. Here’s a list to get back into the spirit if you’re lacking a bit this year.
1. Decorate.
Go to your local 5 Below or dollar store and cash out on cheap, yet festive, Halloween decorations. It’s inexpensive but it brings some much needed Halloween flair to your living area.
2. Dress up.
Dressing up for Halloween doesn’t have to end just because you’re older. In fact, I’d argue dressing up for Halloween can be even more fun as costumes become cleverer and more elaborate.
3. Go to a party (or have one).
You can’t dress up and go nowhere! Go to some costume parties, or if you’re feeling particularly festive, have one of your own.
4. Go to a pumpkin patch.
This one is sure to bring back some childhood memories of school (and family) trips to the pumpkin patch. Not to mention carving pumpkins is extremely fun! Go stop by your nearest pumpkin patch, get the biggest one, and carve out the cutest jack-o’-lantern imaginable. My family also used to make pumpkin seeds by sprinkling some salt on the pumpkin seeds and baking them in the oven.
5. Watch some Halloween movies.
I have a list of movies that will bring back all of the nostalgia and purity of childhood in this article. Of course, you can venture from these movies and watch some real horror movies if you’re brave, but watching Halloween movies are sure to get you in the spirit.
