Let's be honest, writer's block gets the best of us. Whether you just can't figure out what to say in your essay, your creative juices have stopped flowing, or you're like me and are lacking fresh ideas for an article, you can easily beat writer's block with these simple tips!

1. Take a break.

I find one of the best ways to overcome writer's block is to stop working and relax. Sometimes that means stepping away from your computer for a few minutes, or it might mean coming back to it the next day, either way, at times your brain needs a chance to recuperate.

2. Drink some coffee.

I like to combine this tip with the first. I really enjoy drinking coffee, hot or iced, and find that it can help me relax. The caffeine also helps when fatigue is contributing your writer's block. If you don't drink coffee, try some tea that has caffeine in it to give you a little pick me up.

3. Talk it out.

There's a reason your teachers want you to plan out your essays and talk to them about it. When you're at a loss for words, it is really helpful to talk to someone about what you are trying to say. Getting your words out verbally can make it a lot easier to sort through your ideas and get them down on paper. You will also be able to receive feedback before even producing a rough draft, so find someone to talk to!

4. Choose a new topic.

It seems in the worst of times we realize the reason we can't finish our essays is that the topic just sucks. Or maybe you haven't realized that. Writing on something you don't care about or don't know much about can make the task a hundred times harder. Rethink your ideas and consider a new approach to your topic or consider a new one altogether.

5. Write in nature.

There is something oddly satisfying about reading and writing in nature. Sometimes being trapped indoors working away on assignments fogs up your mind, so choosing a new setting to work in can quickly improve your productivity. Sitting outside lets, you enjoy the fresh air and will help break your writer's block.

Writer's block can make writing seem like a daunting task to many people, but there are some easy ways around it. Never be afraid to accept that we all struggle to write from time to time, and all we may need is a break, a nice cup of coffee and a walk in the park.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
