5 Tips On How To Make Your Morning Great

How you start your morning can very well determine what kind of day you have. Therefore, here are five tips on how to make your morning great:

1. Smile Through the Tiredness

We’ve all had moments when we look like, this whether it is Monday or Friday morning. Wake up, read some posts that you know will make you happy, and make sure you laugh once before getting out of bed. Having a bad attitude about your day does less than nothing to contribute to making it better. Even if you have to fake it, don’t forget to smile throughout your day!

2. Mix It Up

Many people get caught up in an ongoing weekday cycle. Wake up, be stressed out, get coffee, go to work, come home, sleep, repeat. Break into your happy dance because you’re breaking the pattern! Whether you're making plans for the weekend and putting it on your kitchen board (this gives you motivation to get through the week) or trying a different coffee at Starbucks, celebrate! We get bored because we are being boring. Little things go a long way.

3. Play Hard, Work Harder

Sometimes we find our jobs less than fun and it can be hard to find motivation to get through the day. Take power breaks every now and then. Scroll through Facebook, text someone you care about, read a couple pages of a book, or find a new recipe on Pinterest. Taking your mind away from work for ten minutes can truly help you to get through the next couple hours.

4. Make Time to Sit Down and Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Yes, you may have to wake up 15 minutes earlier but I promise it makes all the difference. Sitting down gives you time to reflect on your thoughts and maybe even time with the family before everyone leaves. “You’re not yourself when you’re hungry” is such a true statement. Having a healthy, filling breakfast will help you not be so hungry throughout the day – less stress when trying to leave the work desk to grab lunch or multiple snacks. Let’s be real, as much as we want the waffle with syrup… a nutritious breakfast will make us feel better about ourselves in the end.

5. Make an 'Ignore' List

We all have things that we know can be a contributing factor to making our good day a bad one. Instead of a ‘to-do’ list, makes an ‘ignore' list. Write down all the things that you want to avoid today. It can be people, chores, foods, or anything that brings down your mood! (No, you are not allowed to write down work in this situation—sorry!) Check back at the list a couple times during your day and make sure you’re not giving any of these things your attention.

I hope this article finds you smiling and having a better day!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
