5 Tips To Get Through A Rough Week

Sometimes in life, we face obstacles that we never dreamed of being faced with. Sometimes those obstacles feel like they will never end, or go away. Sometimes it seems like we are faced with a new obstacle EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. For me, that has been the case recently. Being the optimistic and positive person I am, I have tried my best not to let these obstacles drag me down, or add any weight to my shoulders. So, if you're going through a tough time, this is for you.

1. Haters gonna hate

Sometimes people suck. Like, let's just face it. Not everyone is always going to be in your corner, and sometimes it may be those who are closest to you that show you this. Keep your chin held high, karma does not lose an address. My tip: Always do your best. If you are doing your best, then you are doing right. Always do your best to ignore all of the side comments or the backlash, and keep working hard.

2. Live your best life

Whatever this means for you, DO IT! Life is way too short. Things might be hard, but every day not spent living is a day you won't get back. Scoop yourself together to the best of your ability, make a bucket list, and do you, boo!

3. Be proud of yourself

You, my friend, have accomplished so much. And, you still have so much left that you will accomplish throughout your journey of life. I am proud of you, and I know there are others who are also proud of you. Keep pushing to achieve your dreams, because YOU WILL GET THERE!

4. Work hard play harder

Work can be extremely overwhelming, and maybe you have two of three jobs. Remember in those moments of complete exhaustion, and stress eventually, one day, some day, hopefully soon, all of this hard work is going to pay off. But, in the meantime TREAT YO SELF! :)

5. Say NO

It seems like when you have so much going on, everyone is contacting you to go out or help with something. It's okay to say no! I know, I know, it makes me feel guilty too. But, we've all been there. You're busy. When you have down time take the time to relax. Sometimes "Ain't nobody got time for that"

With all that being said...

Keep your chin up, keep your heart happy, and take care of yourself. You have one life, and this is it. Make the most of it.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
