As I have been diving into my journal reading more the past few months, I have found different ways to make it more exciting and fulfilling. I know that sometimes it is easy to forget to read it, but I have found it entirely useful and important in my life. Here's just a few tips for making bible reading more enjoyable!

1. Journal.

Every time that I read, I pull out my journal and my colorful pens. I use my journal for any notes, prayers, or to write down any bible verses that speak to me in my current situation. I have filled up multiple journals and have found it an easy way to use my creativity as I grow in my faith. It is also really cool to look back and see where i was at that point in time.

2. Write notes and highlight.

Just like journaling, I also write and draw everywhere in my bible. I am very into visuals, so I find myself drawing and highlighting everywhere. It helps me find a major point of the chapter, and it is easy to look back at old chapters and see what each chapter was about. The first time I read the chapters, I read it to understand and highlight what sticks out. The second time I read it, I write down any notes and journal. It's super effective to read the chapters twice.

3. Use helpful resources.

Sometimes you will come across a part of the bible that will bring up questions. I have quite a few apps that help me figure out what each verse is saying and how to apply it to my life and relationship with God. Sometimes I watch a sermon afterwards or listen to a podcast after I read. It is good to mix it up and there are so many resources out there!

4. Follow a reading plan.

Right now, I am doing a chronological bible study plan. I have an app that tells me what to read each day and it is so helpful. I recommend downloading an app that will give you a reading plan so that you can follow a daily guide for what to read. This will keep you organized and more motivated to read everything. There are a lot of plans on the regular bible app and a lot of them are short term. There are so many options!

5. Read the old testament first.

Many people skip the old testament. I honestly recommend it. God has so much to tell you through it and it is a good place to start!

Part of living out your faith is reading your bible and its so important that you do. I make sure that it is a part of my day every single day. I hope these tips help you dive in to the word!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
