Arya Stark has been my personal favorite character for as long as I have been watching "Game of Thrones." Her story is always the one I paid the most attention to, her life being the one I wish I had. Arya is someone who is very forward with her thoughts and actions and doesn't tend to hold back; which can be both a blessing and a curse. I think we can all relate to her at certain moments in the show and that is why she has become a fan favorite. Here are five times you felt the same as Arya Stark.
1. Laughing at Aunt Lysa's unfortunate fate
Giphy
Laughing at inappropriate times is something Arya -- and many of us -- have done many times. However, finding out that your aunt has been killed isn't necessarily something to burst into a fit of laughter over. When you think about all the work Sandor Clegane, otherwise known as The Hound, went through to bring Arya to her aunt just to be let down literally at the door, it is funny. Even more so when you look at The Hounds face.
2. Checking out cute boys
Giphy
A cute boy with a good personality is something we don't always see, especially not someone who survives for very long. Arya herself has not seen her fair share of somewhat eligible men on her travels but Gendry proved to be just that. Now while the two are together, fans have been imagining the two as a couple since their first encounter. A particular scene in the show featured a shirtless Gendry practicing with a sword while Arya sits off to the side, eating. It was clear that she was side-eyeing him the entire time. I think we can all relate to this.
3. Insulting Sandor Clegane by throwing random words together
Giphy
It's not a strength for all of us when it comes to insulting. Granted, sometimes being good at insulting is a bad thing and people get angry at you for it but let's be honest, it's impressive. Arya is one of those people who just throws some words out there in the hopes that they were mean enough to get her point across. Where were these words directed, you ask? Poor Sandor Clegane was the recipient of the lack of insult you can see above; all because he robbed a family he knew would die.
4. Beating Joffrey with a stick
Giphy
Joffrey's personality was what we could call, unfortunate. Arya was really the only one to point this out and act upon it, which is something we all wish we could have jumped through our screens to do. While everyone was fearful of the child king, Arya instead beat him around with sticks. I think Arya and Tyrion would get along quite well in this aspect.
5. Wanting to be a knight instead of a princess
Giphy
Is there even a girl out there who at one point hasn't thought this? Every time someone comes up to you and says, "That's not ladylike," how else would you respond? Arya so often compares herself to a wolf, which I think is so perfect for what girls should actually be striving for. "No elbows on the table, stand up straight, no fighting" are all things little girls don't want to be told, and they are all things we remember ignoring.
We all have a little bit of Arya Stark inside of us. Maybe you are the sarcastic Arya, or maybe you are the fierce Arya who can hold her own in a fight. Whichever side of Arya you relate to, it is important to take away one lesson from her; she could be whoever she wanted to be (both figuratively and literally). Arya wanted to be a knight in a world where she was meant to be a high lord's wife. Maybe she isn't quite a knight now, but she certainly isn't a simple girl.
