The day is finally here.

5 Thoughts On Turning 21

I think this is one of the most expected dates in our lives because it is the day we are finally old enough to drink legally in the U.S. Turning 21 didn’t mean a lot to me until I came to college, since most people’s social life revolves around drinking here. However, I realized that turning 21 meant so much more than that.

Here are some of my thoughts on turning 21… the day I thought would never come.

1. I can finally drink legally

I had already forgotten what it felt like to go out without worrying about being underage since where I come from the legal drinking age is 18.

2. I need to be an adult now

That’s what I keep thinking, but the more I think about it, the more I want to go back to being a teenager.

3. I'm grateful for one more trip around the sun

No matter how old I am, it is always good to look back and be grateful about being alive and healthy.

4. I am getting old… but I still have a lot of time (hopefully)

One of my biggest fears is growing old and not accomplishing all my dreams.

5. College is going to be so different from now on… I think

I have always believed college is different for those who are “legal” but maybe it will be the exact same. I’ll have to wait and see for myself.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
