5 Thoughts of a 5th Year Senior

You changed your major. Or you added one. You needed extra time to take some more classes. Due to any of those reasons, you have to stay an extra semester or year at school. If any of those apply to you, I feel you. It's rough. Some of you may love your extra time, but some may not. In the beginning, you thought it would be the greatest last semester in college. But you realized it's not. A lot of changes occurred. It's not the same as your "first" senior year. It's different. The following are thoughts you may be having during this semester or year:

1. I miss my friends who graduated.

It's hard when a lot of your closest friends graduated last May. They were your companions for the last 4 years. They were your going out buddies. Sometimes they even lived next door, so they came over most nights.

2. Can graduation be tomorrow?

I am already starting to feel this way. I am just ready for my next adventure.

3. Am I ready to "adult"?

"Adulting" will be a new journey for you. You have more responsibilities. However, it's a new start. You will meet new people and experience "adult" things like buying a car or renting your own apartment.

4. I feel old.

Walking on campus and seeing the new freshman is weird. Some may be 5 years younger than you.

5. Should I go to graduate school or get a full time job?

This is a question every senior ponders. It's different for everyone.

Whether you are graduating this December or next May, your time as a 5th year senior is almost over. While you may be dreading your time as a 5th year because it's not like your "first" senior year, make the most of the last semester or year of your undergraduate career.
