5 Thoughts From Warped Tour

My first Warped Tour will be one I will never forget.

I spent close to an hour talking to a lovely woman at the Peta2 tent about veganism and animal rights and how I could make sending a message about things I am passionate about part of my everyday life.

I spent close to two hours talking to an amazing girl at the I Am Second tent about changing the direction of my life and about how I know I am meant for something bigger.

I spent all day listening to bands I love. New Found Glory. Mayday Parade. The Maine. Falling in Reverse. Sleeping with Sirens.

I met Crown the Empire.

Most of all though I spent the day around hundreds of people who are all different, come for different backgrounds, different styles, but love the same music.

You see, the thing about Warped is we spend all day in the sun and heat because we love this music. We love it because of what it has done for us, what it got us through, what strength it gave us.

When you go to Warped it is like going to a family reunion with people you have never met. Everyone is friendly and we all get it. Honestly, Warped wasn't just about music but it is about coming together as a community.

For me, I found something that day. It was just what I needed when I needed it. I am sure that sounds crazy but its true.

So after all of that I learned some things.

1. Live in the moment.

You can never be in that moment again.

2. Forget what everyone thinks.

You are you for a reason.

3. Dance like no one is watching.

Who cares what they think.

4. Listen to your heart, take chances.

You will find something amazing.

5. Remember to be loud.

I don't mean in your volume. Make bold statements and get your opinions out there.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
