If the best part of college is the friendships you make, then the worst part is when your new-found friends leave for the summer.
And if you are stuck in a college-town for summer classes, what are you supposed to do now that they are gone?
Here are five thoughts that cross your mind when your friends leave for summer:
1. Hoping your one friend that stayed isn't busy when you want someone to hang out with.
"Wait a minute! I think Sally, she was in my one class that one time, said that she will be here over summer."
Only to remember, "Ugh, she's busy studying chemistry, again...."
2. Wondering how you ever survived before you met them.
"If it is this hard when they leave me for three months, what on earth did I used to do before they were even in my life at all?"
Curiouser and curiouser...
3. Wondering, of course, what to do now.
"It's not weird if I go to the movies by myself, right?"
4. Wondering if trying to make a new friend in your summer class is worth it.
"She seems nice and approachable. Then again, I'm really awkward at small talk and meeting people. Maybe I should just wait it out."
Three months pass and my only human interaction is with the Bite Squad delivery guy.
5. Resisting the urge to constantly text/call/Skype your friends who went home for summer.
"I get to see her for most of the year while her family and friends back home only get to see her for two or three months. Maybe I should just leave her alone and let her spend quality time with her family."
Starts dialing...
So, there you have it.
Just know that if you're still in town for summer and are missing your friends, you are not alone.
However, if you were lucky enough to go home for the summer, know that you are being missed.
Until Fall...
