Everyone has had to do it, whether you take turns among your friends or you simply volunteer yourself for the occasion. You have been a designated driver at least once in your life. It's hard, it's even ruthless at some points, but it must be done. Here are the 5 thoughts I've had whenever I've been declared the designated driver of the night.
1. I should have thought this through
What on earth was I thinking when I agreed to this? I thought it was the nice thing to do, I would be able to handle this. What am I going to do surrounded by all these drunk imbeciles?!
2. Oh sh*t, I forgot my own drink.
I'm thirsty as all hell, and there;s nothing here except for alcohol. What am I supposed to do now? Maybe swallowing my spit for a couple hours will have to suffice.
3. Am I this stupid when I'm drunk?
Every single person looks like a complete idiot. This cannot possibly be what I look like when I'm drunk, right? Right....?
4. I want to go home
Alright, I will as though my duties here have certainly sufficed, let's get a move on people, I'm sober and ready for bed!
5. OK, OK who else needs a ride?
As the DD it's my duty to make sure everyone makes it home safely, therefore if you need a ride, you get one.
