Although I had a great first year of college, I walked away at the end of the semester with goals to achieve. I did not regret anything, but I now have a clearer defined path of where I want to go with the rest of my college career and hopefully make it happen. I am excited to kick this year off and start checking things off.
1. Being an RA
Having the opportunity to learn more about students themselves and professional staff on a more personal level excites me. I am glad I get to have a voice and help students find a niche and be an ear to listen.
2. Returning to my program
Over the summer, I came very close to changing majors but there was a little voice in the back of my head saying “not yet.” As I walked back into a science lecture hall, I fell in love with the subject all over again and felt the fire of the little girl that fell in love with the subject nine years ago.
3. Spending time with friends
No matter how hard one tries, it is almost impossible to get together with college friends over the summer. Between work, summer classes, and catching up with family, it is difficult to make time for one another. Now that we are back at school, all night study and vent sessions can begin again as well as weekends with different adventures and inside jokes.
4. A new food service
We now have food that tastes like actual food on my campus and I am very excited about it. I can actually eat. Thank you, Parkhurst, you are much appreciated.
5. Having a bucket list
I made my first education program of the semester into a bucket list. Getting to see my goals as I walk past my bulletin board every day is a reminder to be the best version of myself and tells me where to improve.
