Here are five things you will most likely experience at a football game, some good and some not so good:
1. Getting your feet stepped on
Being in the student section with 304839 of your peers is all fun and games until someone gets a little too close and ends up stepping on your feet. But what else would you expect to happen when you stand for hours, in very close proximity, on a very thin bench? Tip: Avoid open toed shoes.
2. Dropping some type of sauce on your clothes
Jumping up and down from excitement is already quite the task when you’re standing on a bench; so imagine trying to do that while also holding some type of food item in your hand. The task gets even more complicated when your team scores a touchdown and someone accidentally pushes you. Tip: Sit while you eat, and avoid white clothes at all costs.
3. Leg/feet soreness
You aren’t doing the student section right if you don’t stand the whole time, which most likely means tired legs at the end of the day. Add the tailgating beforehand, and the walking back from the stadium afterwards, and you have yourself some pretty sore feet. Tip: Wear comfy shoes, & sit whenever possible (even if it’s just for a few seconds).
4. A drained phone battery
Whether it’s updating your family/friends about the game score, getting awesome pictures of the stadium, or taking endless selfies and pictures with friends, you can definitely count on your phone battery life going from 100 to 0 real quick. Tip: Bring a portable charger.
5. An “I love this vibe” feeling
It really doesn’t get any better than cheering for your home team, while being surrounded by friends and people who are all rooting for the same thing. The music, the fireworks, the chanting, the wave, and the ‘we win together we lose together’ feel. When you take a moment to absorb and appreciate everything that is in front of you, you will quickly realize that these are the type of memories that will last you a lifetime.
